Maxwell was an interring character to get to know. A human sexuality professor, Max is not shy about his sexual desires and doesn't shy away from them, until he gets the hots for the new, sexy University librarian. Fresh from graduation, Talia is trying to adjust to this new chapter in her life, like she's adjusted to everything in her life--with fierce determination to succeed. Shy on the surface but curious to explore more outside her academic life, Talia is immediately attracted to her older faculty mentor.
As stories go, this wasn't an epic love story. I loved Max and his charming ways, but in truth I couldn't see him noticing Talia or pursuing anything with her beyond a casual fling. I could sense their attraction for each other, but I didn't really get a sense for the connection that would bring about a lasting relationship. Evie Claire is a new-to-me author so I did go into the story with any expectations.
The writing was okay, although for a book titled Sext with Me, the sexting exchanged were few and far between and when they happened it was more awkward than sexy. I would have rather have a bit more mystery in the texting and have more of the detailed, passionate sex when Max and Talia actually got together. Ultimately, when the sex did actually occur, it felt a little lacking after all that anticipation. There were other issues the characters had to deal with throughout the story that didn't gel with me very well.
I understand that Talia's experience with her mother shaped her into the person she was today, but all the drama and inner monologue she kept having didn't really add anything to the story that wasn't already mentioned before. Truthfully, I found myself skimming through parts of it because, although these event were happening at the time, the point had already been established and didn't need to be hashed further.
I got it, Talia had Mommy issues that cause her to make bad decisions early on, but that ultimately helped her become the independent, determined if emotionally stunted, closed off person she became. Yeah, I didn't like her very much. As for Max, he was a handsome older bachelor dealing with his own emotional baggage. His parents' relationship and lack of attention in his formative years left him completely aloof when it came to emotional entanglements.
He knew all about the physical, what the body needed and how good it felt to give into his carnal desires. So it was kind of fun to see him so affected by a woman he could not pursue if only because he was so confused by all the emotions he sext with me having when in the past he was led only by the physical aspects of sext with me with a woman. All in all, this was not a bad story, it just wasn't for me.
New young librarian meets hot older teacher This is the book in one sentence. This was a good quick little read with a little bit of spice thrown in. Talia King has just graduated college and gotten a job at her schools library. Of course this is her dream job because this is what she worked to hard for Maxwell Radclyffe is a teacher in the Psychology Department, Human Sexuality, and also had his own private practice. He is well known in campus with the ladies.
On Talia's first day these two in up having a bit of a run in to which they have no idea who each other is. Talia has to team up with a senior member of the faculty and low and behold Maxwell is hers. Of course they don't hit if off right away because they could not be more different. Talia receives a mysterious text message from someone that she doesn't know and wow the text is a juicy one. Talia immediately shuts it down and tries to move on from said message. It keeps eating at her and messages do in fact keep coming.
So she decides to play along with her mysterious texter. The attraction between Talia and Maxwell comes very quickly and they soon figure out that they are texting each other. This book does have super sweet romantic parts to it and I did enjoy reading it.
I would recommend this one who likes some spicy in there books that is not overly done. A real fun read, quiet librarian Talia is newly hired at the school she just graduated from, she's ready to start her new life what she wasn't expecting was drawing the eye of hottest professor, one known for knowing his was around the bedroom, after all he's the department chair.
Talia has many hangups, lots of reasons for her wanting to start over and do well and when Max comes in she's got a whole lot of feelings she knows she shouldn't be feeling. Max tried to resist Talia's charms but attraction can prove too strong. Heat, passion, mistakes and regrets run the gambit but the chemistry is flaming.
A real entertaining read! I received a complimentary copy of Sext with Me in exchange for an honest review. This was a unique read for sure. I thought the author did a great job introducing the "Sexting" and set this book up with sext with me great conflict.
It was a love hate read for me, and there were several parts where I just lost interest, but then I'd get sucked back in with the chemistry between Taila and Max. Definitely a neutral read, and a book that I wouldn't encourage or discourage from reading. See all reviews. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations.
